As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing the infrastructure that keeps the grid strong, smart, and ready for tomorrow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in consulting or a related field.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to thrive in a production-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or GIS design tools is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of ArcGIS.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow both client and ENTRUST data standards and practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, plan daily activities, and adapt to new situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception for design tasks.
  • Ability to apply basic and intermediate design skills to real-world projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and refine electric distribution designs that meet client specifications, safety codes, and industry standards.
  • Support the preparation of simple to moderately complex designs, including calculations, drawings, and documentation.
  • Lead the design development for smaller projects and assist on more complex efforts, including technical analyses and design coordination.
  • Work closely with Designers and Drafters to complete comprehensive design packages.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, clients, and vendors, raising concerns related to scope, cost, schedule, or quality as needed.
  • Ensure all work products follow ENTRUST and client procedures, including quality control, document control, and procurement standards.
  • Self-check work for accuracy and completeness before submitting for review.
  • Participate in peer reviews and quality control processes to uphold high standards across the team.
  • Assist the Design Coordinator in evaluating design personnel and assigning tasks to Designers and Drafters.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, helping them grow while ensuring project success.
  • Interact independently with clients and vendors, representing ENTRUST with professionalism and technical insight.
  • Conduct field visits and support fielding activities as needed to ensure design accuracy and alignment with real-world conditions.
