The Stores and Properties Data Science team supports many different initiatives from payroll forecasting, optimization for stores fulfillment planning, work that influences sustainable energy solutions in stores, and simulation for operations to just to name a few.   • Collaborate with Product, Tech, and business partners to solve retail challenges at scale within our stores.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain data science models and tools.
  • Work closely with applied data scientists, data analysts, and business partners to continuously learn and address evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and data scientists on peer teams to build and stores solutions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of business and operational processes within Target's Stores.
  • Analyze large datasets to derive insights for business process improvements and solution development.
  • Develop forecasting models, mathematical models (probabilistic/deterministic models), and implement them in real-world production systems with measurable impact.
  • Coordinate the analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues in models and software.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to deliver on business objectives.
  • Provide financial insight and guidance to business partners and leadership.
  • Drive efficiencies across analytics and reporting processes using automation.
  • Deliver meaningful insights to business teams, partners and stakeholders that support meaningful decisions.
  • MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 plus years of professional experience in applying Machine Learning models to solve complex problems in Retail or related domains.
  • Demonstrated programming experience in Python, R, SQL or Scala and the ability to learn and apply new languages and test-driven development.
  • Strong analytical thinking and data visualization skills.
  • Ability to creatively solve business problems and innovate new approaches.
  • Experience cleaning, transforming, and analyzing large datasets for insights leading to business improvements.
  • Experience developing, testing, and maintaining large codebases in a collaborative environment while meeting industry best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts, forecasting, data structures, algorithms, data analysis, and visualizations applied to business problems.
  • Experience deploying solutions in ML Ops with large-scale business impacts.
  • Self-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to meet tight timelines.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across geographies/time zones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Forecasting experience desired.
