About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AI/ML Infrastructure Engineer to play a critical role in advancing our E-Commerce Analytics platform. In this position, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and deploying robust and scalable AI/ML pipelines to support production workloads. You will collaborate closely with data analytics teams, machine learning engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to drive the adoption of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions across various domains within Walmart's E-Commerce ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and operating AI/ML workloads in a production environment.
  • Proven expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to support large-scale ML models.
  • Deep understanding of ML frameworks and commercial AI/ML infrastructure, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, KubeFlow/MLFlow, and HuggingFace.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed training and different parallelism techniques for scaling up training, such as FSDP and tensor/pipeline parallelism.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to act as a credible technical advisor, setting and enforcing high-quality standards for code and system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, drive, and execute a technical vision and roadmap, aligning with business objectives.
  • Experience building high-traffic distributed systems and ML infrastructure, ensuring scalability and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the design and development of AI/ML models and Generative AI technologies is a plus.
  • Data science, machine learning, optimization models.
  • Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.
  • Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
  • Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch).
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data analytics and data science teams to gather requirements, understand their needs, and iterate on solutions for the AI/ML infrastructure platform.
  • Evaluate and benchmark the performance and capabilities of existing platform offerings, ensuring they meet current needs while prioritizing the development of next-generation capabilities.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for the AI/ML infrastructure platform, focusing on incremental delivery, defining success metrics, and driving platform adoption.
  • Transition AI/ML workloads from proof-of-concept (POC) to production-ready pipelines using MLOps frameworks, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Champion the adoption of containerization and orchestration technologies to support data preparation, processing, and inference for large-scale ML models.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML infrastructure and technologies, including Generative AI, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our platform.
  • Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership, fostering transparency and collaboration.
