The Senior Data Science Analyst position at the City of Fort Worth involves leveraging advanced statistical, computational, and visualization tools to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and identify trends. The analyst will develop data analysis strategies, create data visualizations, and collaborate with various departments to drive data-driven decisions and optimize processes.

  • Develops and implements data analysis strategies to solve complex business problems, leveraging advanced statistical, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Creates and communicates insightful data visualizations to stakeholders, ensuring complex data is presented clearly and effectively.
  • Interprets department business needs and translates them into actionable insights, application designs, and operational requirements to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Coordinates and analyzes data from multiple departments to identify opportunities for enhancing departmental operations and performance through data-driven decision-making and process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains performance-monitoring tools and dashboards for tracking and optimizing key metrics, ensuring continuous evaluation of performance goals.
  • Designs, produces, and automates both standard and customized reports for statistical analysis, operational planning, and strategic decision-making, using modern data visualization tools and programming languages.
  • Collaborates with end-users to gather and refine requirements for data projects, creating detailed business requirement documents, and conducting follow-up meetings to ensure alignment with business goals and data availability.
  • Performs exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and advanced data mining techniques to uncover trends and patterns in historical data, providing actionable recommendations to improve departmental performance.
  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, Physics or Statistics, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of performing financial or data analysis experience required.
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Kubeflow, MLflow, TFX, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with modern data stack (e.g., Fivetran/Apache Airflow, dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery/RedShift, S3/Azure Data Lake).
  • Knowledge of software development practices (e.g., Git), unit testing and integration testing.
  • Advanced problem solving, conceptual thinking, teamwork, and interpersonal relation skills.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
  • Experience with programming tools (e.g., Python, R, Julia, Java, Rust), query language (e.g., SQL).
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, Kafka, Hadoop).
  • Experience with ETL pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Skills in data management and systems, experience working with big data.
