A Sr. Data Science Analyst job is available with the City of Fort Worth FWLab Data Analytics division. The FWLab houses the Budget, Revenue and Special Districts, Strategy and Performance, and Data Analytics division of the City of Fort Worth. Our focus is on building organizational capacity to explore, analyze, and learn from data that is discoverable via existing and municipal systems and components.

  • Develops and implements data analysis strategies to solve complex business problems, leveraging advanced statistical, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Creates and communicates insightful data visualizations to stakeholders, ensuring complex data is presented clearly and effectively.
  • Coordinates and analyzes data from multiple departments to identify opportunities for enhancing departmental operations and performance through data-driven decision-making and process improvements.
  • Designs, produces, and automates both standard and customized reports for statistical analysis, operational planning, and strategic decision-making, using modern data visualization tools and programming languages.
  • Collaborates with end-users to gather and refine requirements for data projects, creating detailed business requirement documents, and conducting follow-up meetings to ensure alignment with business goals and data availability.
  • Performs exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and advanced data mining techniques to uncover trends and patterns in historical data, providing actionable recommendations to improve departmental performance.
  • Builds and maintains data pipelines for efficient data flow.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with course work in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience required.
  • Experience in Machine Learning and Data Science techniques (e.g., Linear Regression, Bayesian Statistics, Causal Inference), with a strong background in working with large, multimodal datasets to address complex business problems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and query languages (e.g., SQL), as well as experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., distributed streaming/processing) and the modern data stack (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake), alongside knowledge of software development practices (e.g., Git), unit testing, and integration testing.
