A Sr. Data Science Analyst - Business Analytics job is available with the City of Fort Worth FWLab Data Analytics division. The FWLab houses the Budget, Revenue and Special Districts, Strategy and Performance, and Data Analytics division of the City of Fort Worth. Our focus is on building organizational capacity to explore, analyze, and learn from data that is discoverable via existing and municipal systems and components.

  • Collaborates with departments to understand business operations, identify challenges, and conduct quantitative research to support data-driven decisions.
  • Builds and maintains models, dashboards, and reports for various scenarios, providing actionable recommendations to optimize costs and performance.
  • Performs exploratory analysis on multimodal datasets, including GIS integration for spatial insights, to uncover trends and inform strategic recommendations.
  • Gathers requirements from stakeholders, documents business needs, and ensures analytical output aligns with operational goals and priorities.
  • Develops custom quantitative frameworks through detailed investigation and domain learning.
  • Communicates findings and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences, such as management, to drive changes and efficiency gains.
  • Automates reporting processes and integrates GIS data for enhanced visualization and decision-making in projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with course work in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience required.
  • Proven experience collaborating with business stakeholders to translate operational functions into analytical solutions, including proficiency in quantitative modeling for business problems (e.g., cost-benefit analysis, forecasting).
  • Strong skills in data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI), along with familiarity in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and query languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Knowledge of data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), as well as experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for delivering location-based insights.
