We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. This role will focus on architecting and optimizing data pipelines, managing cloud-based data platforms, and ensuring robust data governance across Bio-Techne's enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with data scientists and business stakeholders. Onsite role- no remote work Employer salary range - 125-150K

  • Architect, design, and maintain complex data pipelines and ETL workflows for large-scale data processing.
  • Lead the development of cloud-based data architectures leveraging AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, and GCP BigQuery.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance across all data platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse data sources into enterprise data systems.
  • Develop and enforce coding standards, documentation, and quality assurance processes for data engineering projects.
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers, providing technical leadership and career development support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience designing and managing cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong background in distributed data processing frameworks (Apache Spark) and workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow).
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and advanced ETL concepts.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles, scalability, and security.
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor team members effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging technical and business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, or Azure Data Engineer Associate are highly desirable.
