About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and driven Sr. Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team reporting to the Director, Data Engineering. The Sr. Data Engineer’s role is to integrate data from a variety of internal and external sources into a common warehouse data model. This is a technical role that involves building and maintaining ELT data pipelines, recommending and implementing appropriate data models, and being comfortable in a Data Ops environment. We are looking for someone with a consultative mindset to be able to interact with the business and analytics team and help drive value to the business. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in enterprise data solutions in the capacity of senior data engineer
  • 10+ years of experience in databases, data warehouses, and ETL / ELT pipelines
  • 4+ years in Snowflake in a production enterprise environment with strong SQL experience
  • 2+ years of data extraction/transformation/orchestration tools such as Fivetran, dbt and Airflow
  • Experience building data pipelines using Python and data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
  • Deep understanding of data analysis, data modeling for visualization, and reporting
  • Experience in Data Ops and git or Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following business subject areas: healthcare, marketing, finance, sales, product, customer success, or engineering
  • Experience performing root cause analysis for production issues and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Passionate about writing clean, documented, and well-formed code and perform code reviews
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization, and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Snowflake certification
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks in Snowflake
  • Experience with real-time or near real-time data architectures

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to collect business requirements, define successful analytics outcomes, and design data models
  • Design, develop, and extend dbt and/or other ELT code to extend the Enterprise Dimensional Model
  • Architect, optimize, and maintain Snowflake data warehouse structures, including performance tuning, clustering, cost optimization, and workload management
  • Responsible and accountable for owning stakeholder relationship and delivery outcomes
  • Contribute to planning and prioritization discussion
  • Break down and architect the most complex data engineering problems to deliver insights that meet and ideally exceed business needs
  • Own and deliver solutions - from ingestion of sources to data products for end user consumption, from conceptual iteration to production support
  • Deliver and ensure sustained performance of all data engineering pipelines and remediate where required
  • Own all data engineering pipelines delivered as part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics platform including performance, uptime, reduced technical debt, scalability, and extensibility; establish KPIs
  • Own source code management, documentation (technical and end user), and release planning for data engineering products; lean in to Data Ops, DevOps, and CI/CD to deliver reliable, tested, and scalable functionality through automation
  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale and stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions
  • Identify and proactively manage risks to the data engineering platform
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation and deployment of emerging tools and processes for data engineering to improve productivity and results
  • Partner with Data Management, InfoSec, and Legal & Compliance teams to ensure global regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) are implemented and data lifecycle is defined and implemented
  • Other duties as assigned
