Awardco is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our Product team in Lindon, Utah. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and reliable for product features and analytical insights. You'll be instrumental in building scalable solutions that support our rapidly growing data needs, working with modern data technologies and collaborating closely with product managers and other engineering teams. Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems.
  • Strong proficiency in dimensional and relational data modeling.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python for data ingestion and transformation.
  • Experience with modern data warehousing solutions (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distributed data processing engines such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, or Trino.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Apache Kafka.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and monitoring tools like Prometheus.
  • Experience with modern data modeling and transformation tools like dbt.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust ETL/ELT pipelines to support product features and analytical requirements.
  • Lead the architecture of scalable, high-performance data models and schemas.
  • Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to understand data needs and implement solutions that drive product innovation.
  • Develop and manage data ingestion processes from various sources into our data platform.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Utilize cloud computing platforms to deploy and manage data infrastructure and services.
  • Work with technologies like Spark and Databricks for large-scale data processing and transformation.
  • Automate data workflows and operational tasks using programming languages like Python.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to data availability and integrity.
  • Mentor other engineers on data engineering best practices.
