Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to design, develop, and implement next generation data platforms. The role involves contributing to the design of backend databases and queries, working independently with minimal insight to develop software that conforms to Visa's high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance. The engineer will design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards, create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, and develop solutions to generate code for data pipelines using Python/Jinja code generation framework. Additionally, the role includes assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional/nonfunctional business requirements, building analytics tools that utilize the data automation pipeline to provide actionable insights, and analyzing input data elements across multiple sources to build data lineage for the Asset Management System. The engineer will work on emerging technologies, building highly scalable, secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems, participate in design and code review sessions, and provide third-level support to business users. The position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

  • Experience with Unix scripting using Bash.
  • Experience utilizing GIT and Visual Studio Code for version control.
  • Experience with Big Data Analytics for analyzing data assets managed by the Data Platform.
  • Experience with software engineering code generation for data pipelines.
  • Experience using Airflow for scheduling and orchestrating data pipelines.
