About The Position
As a Senior Counsel in Privacy at Tesla, you will be an integral part of our Legal group, working alongside a dynamic and experienced team to address a wide array of legal issues that impact Tesla's business and products on a global scale. This role requires you to engage directly with business and engineering teams, applying legal standards and frameworks to develop innovative solutions related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) in compliance with regulatory obligations. You will be challenged to creatively apply your extensive legal expertise to complex and unique legal scenarios, requiring not only legal acumen but also a strong business sense and a commitment to customer and data protection. Your ability to operate independently and collaborate cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams will be crucial as Tesla expands its offerings worldwide. Your contributions will have an immediate impact on the organization. In this role, you will assist in driving privacy and data protection compliance for various business and functional leaders and their teams. You will collaborate with these teams to incorporate privacy by design into products and services, ensuring that innovative privacy solutions are adopted from inception through to implementation. Continuous enhancement of Tesla's global privacy program will be a key focus, which includes performing gap assessments and executing necessary remediation activities. You will also be responsible for responding to customer and regulatory inquiries and investigations related to data, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI, providing essential guidance to Tesla's business functions, including those supporting vehicle, energy, insurance, and financing groups. Your role will involve researching and tracking global privacy and security legislation, evolving regulations, and enforcement actions, translating these into practical advice for the organization. You will counsel on privacy and security incident preparedness and management, and create engaging training and awareness content to further develop Tesla's privacy and data protection practices both in the U.S. and globally. Additionally, you will execute regulatory requirements and reflect relevant changes in external privacy notices, internal policies, playbooks, and other materials that support Tesla's global privacy program.
