About The Position

The Senior Cost Analyst will be a key member of the Office of the Vice President for Research, responsible for developing, submitting, and negotiating MIT's facilities and administrative rates, employee benefits rates, and research vacation accrual rates. This role involves advising senior management and the MIT community on risk management related to federal cost principles and regulations, providing complex financial analysis, and serving as the primary contact with federal agencies and auditors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field or four years of directly related work experience.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Solid background in accounting and/or financial modeling/forecasting.
  • Familiarity with Federal cost principles and regulations (Uniform Guidance) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

  • Experience in an academic/research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and submit MIT's facilities and administrative (F&A) rates.
  • Negotiate employee benefits (EB) rates and research vacation accrual (VA) rates.
  • Advise senior management and Research Administration Services on risk management related to federal cost principles.
  • Provide decision support through complex financial analysis.
  • Act as MIT's primary point of contact with the Office of Naval Research and Defense Contract Audit Agency.
  • Support ad hoc functions and administration of the Office of Cost Analysis.
