About The Position

The Senior Cost Analyst is a senior-level finance leader responsible for ensuring our detailed cost level transactions are presented consistently, timely, and accurately within each business system for use to management.  This role ensures accurate financial reporting, drives strategic planning, and maintains compliance across multiple locations. The ideal candidate combines technical cost accounting expertise coupled with strong data mining and evaluation skills. This position is best filled with a person comfortable working with hundreds of thousands of data records using a variety of data viewing tools.

Requirements

  • Experience in accounting, preferably in a Small to Mid-Size ($20-100M) Manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and exposure to PowerBI presentation of data.
  • Working knowledge of data gathering, sorting, filtering, etc. from ERP systems
  • Data Mining Capabilities using various data extraction tools (Access, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience with integrated ERP Systems for input and management of business transactions.
  • 4 year Accounting Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong data analytic skills including basic query execution, managing data using multiple software tools.
  • Able to work with multiple levels of managers, whether from a sales, operational, or executive level.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter expert in all things related to system data regarding job costs, core gross margins.
  • Provide operational procedures guidance to ensure all job cost activities are measured consistently and cutoffs during month end are accurate.
  • Guide and counsel to locations where deviations in standard practices are identified.
  • Assist locations in month close process, ensuring deadlines are met and all key transactions are posted.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis of job cost and margin data where needed to support management requests.
  • Leadership in company efforts in calculating and managing recovery cost rates for each of the covered locations.
  • Assist with any needs for company audits across locations of coverage
  • System integrations – Serve as key lead for any new accounting based systems; Participation as subject matter expert.
  • Mentor key individuals in specific areas of coverage across all covered locations
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., MIS, ERP)
  • Provide executive leadership with actionable insights on profitability, risk, and growth opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned, specific to your locations of coverage.
