The Sr. Controls Technician (Non-Licensed) is responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting of systems. This role requires high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface and mentoring of control technicians, service technicians, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. The technician will also manage assigned work to ensure professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction.

  • Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems.
  • Consults with the customer through data gathered and site assessments, providing field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • May manage all aspects of small/non-complex retrofit projects with administrative support from the Projects Team.
  • Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
  • Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Adheres to all safety standards and provides safety leadership and instruction to all controls technicians.
  • Trains customers in control systems operations and delivers manuals and documentation for training needs.
  • Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems.
  • Conducts extensive self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in the company's product lines.
  • Vocational School four year program graduate or an Associates degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field.
  • Degree may be offset by two years experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
  • Five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in servicing electronic control and HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others on multiple job sites.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Experience in writing and demonstrated understanding of computer programs and software applications related to the HVAC Industry.
