About The Position

Senior Controls Specialist who will be responsible for electrical safety and training, serve as a key problem solver for the plant’s control systems, and act as a lead for other instrumentation and electrical personnel. This position will primarily be at one site but will occasionally provide remote support or on-site support for another smaller site. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is technically curious and demonstrates superior written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree coupled with 5+ years of demonstrated experience in an industrial continuous process atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated process control experience in defining, designing, installing and maintaining control logic systems and equipment.
  • Willingness to assume roles of team leader and team member when necessary.
  • Advanced demonstrated communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa (work permit).
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb ladders, work at heights, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, detailed design (including documentation), capital request preparation, installation, start-up/checkout/debugging, and cost control of assigned projects.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and equipment modification.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts in support of plant goals.
  • Monitor plant systems, analyze performance, and initiate action for optimization to achieve plant goals for safety, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Install switches, and perform maintenance on the network as needed.
  • Maintain and support the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) environment, including, but not limited to, PLC programming, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) configuration and programming, and logic maintenance.
  • Manage records regarding all system software changes and communicate any changes to affected employees.
  • Manage contractors and maintenance staff during project installations.
  • Create electrical training programs for electrical, instrument, and mechanical teams to stay abreast of federal, state and local regulations.
  • Partner with Plant Mgmt to develop the five-year capital planning and the annual electrical operating budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
