If so, you may be the right candidate to join Evapco’s Corporate Technology Development team. We are looking for a Senior Lead Engineer with 10+ years’ experience in technical leadership, strategy, project management, and group management responsibilities. We are also looking for a Senior Engineer with 7+ years’ experience with strong architecture development, hardware selection, system design, and code experience. The Corporate Technology Development Department’s primary objective is to evaluate and develop new technologies that offer significant positive impact and process improvement to Evapco’s global business. Many of these efforts will involve technologies and software previously unknown to or untried by Evapco. The department’s focus and direction will often be in response to new and changing market dynamics where innovative solutions are required in a timely manner. The team complements and collaborates with the Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development Engineering, Operations, Quality, and IT departments.

  • Designing and implementing Automation & Control systems for production machinery, test cells, and production test equipment.
  • Participating in machine design and productivity improvement teams to lead automation and controls development needs of these teams.
  • Recommending best strategies for machine control applications to include AC drives, DC servo drives, microcontrollers, robotics, vision systems, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Specifying, purchasing, and managing both internally fabricated and outsourced control & automation packages.
  • Interacting and programming various Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Robotics Platforms, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Creating necessary project documentation for archiving work to include certified drawings, project specific production drawings, electrical schematics, and bill of materials.
  • Supporting, and as necessary traveling, to Evapco’s worldwide facilities to conduct start-up, commissioning, training, and continuous maintenance on installed equipment.
  • Training factory technicians on the proper procedures of building and testing control systems, wiring machinery, and documenting compliance with applicable safety codes.
  • Coordinating and supporting field technicians when they are conducting start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of installed equipment.
  • Developing unique solutions to R&D requests for product modifications.
  • Developing risk assessment studies and appropriate safeguarding methodologies for compliance with local regulations.
  • Learning and applying US and International safety codes on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintaining knowledge base of drive, microcontroller, and sensor technologies as well as relevant codes and standards through continuous education and experiential learning.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ experience for Senior Lead Engineer or 7+ years’ experience for Senior Engineer.
  • Strong architecture development, hardware selection, system design, and coding experience.
  • Experience selecting and programming logic controllers, servos, drives, HMIs, and performing OT network communications.
  • Experience with safety risk assessments and designing controls to NEC, UL, and international electrical codes.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and enjoy hands-on field work.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally and have (or be able to obtain) a valid passport.
  • Good verbal and written English communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
  • Experience with pick & place robotics, welding robotics, collaborative robots, and machine-vision systems.
