The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation. Whirlpool is currently seeking a qualified Sr Controls Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical direction in problem-solving and developing a strong understanding of appliance operations. The ideal candidate will be in a commutable distance to one of our manufacturing plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC machine controls (Logix 5000, SLC 500, Panelview HMI)
  • Experience with Fanuc robotics, including collaborative applications

  • Experience in Rockwell Suite Software (FactoryTalk, AssetCenter, Studio 5000)

Responsibilities

  • Drive Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Engagement throughout the entire plant
  • Coach peers through the execution of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives including New Product Introduction (NPI), productivity, and capacity
  • Develop short-term and long-term plans and programs to improve productivity and capacity and prepare the necessary budgets and justifications for these projects
  • Champion diversity and inclusion behaviors by proactively seeking and valuing all types of diversity and work to bring out the contributions of everyone
  • Build relationships with the broader manufacturing organization and with Human Resources, Legal, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, and Logistics
  • Proactively collaborate with peers in other Whirlpool manufacturing locations, global business teams, brand, channel/corporate technology, finance organizations, and leverage enterprise-wide expertise.
  • Ability to provide feedback and coaching to all levels of the organization
  • Drive continuous improvement in the organizational, technical, and business information processes/systems through lean/innovative thinking and ideas
  • Support the maintenance department in troubleshooting critical issues
