This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This role is part of Blue Origin's Ground Systems Engineering team, supporting launch operations, test facilities, and ground support equipment (GSE) across all Blue Origin sites. Our team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the control systems that enable safe and efficient rocket testing and launch operations. We are looking for an experienced controls engineer to architect and standardize control systems across Blue Origin's ground infrastructure. The ideal candidate will apply their extensive control systems expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to develop cohesive, cost-effective control architectures. You will drive standardization initiatives that reduce complexity, minimize costs, and improve reliability while ensuring the highest safety standards.   • Lead the development of standardized control system architectures across launch facilities, test stands, and ground support equipment
  • Architect control system solutions that reduce costs, simplify maintenance, and increase reliability
  • Develop technical roadmaps and implementation strategies for control system standardization
  • Design and implement control system solutions for mission-critical applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of control systems with facility infrastructure, test articles, and vehicle interfaces
  • Establish control system standards, best practices, and design patterns
  • Evaluate and select control system hardware and software platforms based on technical and business requirements
  • Optimize existing control systems for reliability, maintainability, and performance
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Support troubleshooting of complex control system issues during test and launch operations
  • 8+ years experience designing and implementing industrial control systems
  • Demonstrated experience architecting control solutions for complex, safety-critical systems
  • Expertise with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and distributed control architectures
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
  • Experience with control system hardware platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.)
  • Proven ability to standardize and optimize control system designs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Experience with safety instrumented systems and functional safety standards
  • Understanding of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication to mission success
  • B.S. degree or higher in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or other relevant engineering field
  • Experience with aerospace ground systems, launch facilities, or test stands
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511)
  • Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, WinCC, Iconics, or FactoryTalk
  • Knowledge of high-speed data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Experience integrating control systems with enterprise data systems and analytics platforms
  • Background in developing and implementing control system cybersecurity measures
  • Experience with real-time control system simulation and modeling
  • Expertise in formal system requirements development and verification
  • Experience leading technical teams or projects
  • Knowledge of fluid systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and propellant handling
  • Experience with control system virtualization and containerization
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex control problems with minimal direction
  • Experience applying large language models in coding and testing
