About The Position

Corning Incorporated seeks Sr. Controls Engineer reporting to work in Hickory, NC. Lead controls engineers in installing & commissioning fiber optic cabling equipment. Use controls engineering principles to design new cabling processes. Troubleshoot chronic production & quality issues w/ fiber optic cabling equipment. Program vision inspection systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), & Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs). Up to 20% domestic travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in controls, mechatronics, or electrical engineering, or closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience developing electrical controls for fiber optical cable manufacturing processes for use in hyperscale data centers.
  • 5 years of experience with Allen Bradley, Beckhoff PLC programming for dynamic fiber optic cabling processes, including buffering, jacketing, straightening, & compound delivery.
  • Experience with iFix HMI & SCADA programming for fiber optic cabling.
  • Proficiency in visual basic & C++ coding to develop tailored software solutions for advanced processes.
  • Experience leading projects & teams of electrical & mechanical engineers & technicians to support fiber optic cabling equipment & controls design & commissioning.
