About The Position

Join Polaris as a Vehicle Electrical Control Systems (VECS) Engineer and help shape the future of Off-Road Vehicles. In this role, you will define requirements for innovative electrical features that enhance the rider experience, using modeling and simulation tools to refine and validate your work (left side of the V-model). You will also develop and execute system integration plans, ensuring the successful deployment of electrical features into new vehicle applications (right side of the V-model). This role involves close collaboration with business leaders, architects, and other stakeholders to accurately translate customer and business needs into engineering requirements, and includes unique opportunities for hands-on work through prototyping and integration activities. This is an exciting and dynamic role on a growing team that has a direct impact on the Polaris Off-Road Vehicle rider experience!

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; proven ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of teams including business leaders, project managers, system and component engineers, architects, service, manufacturing, etc.
  • Strong adaptability in fast-paced environment with rapidly changing and ambiguous business needs, especially given minimal information or guidance.
  • Working knowledge in Systems Engineering Standards and best practices such as INCOSE or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
  • Experience with requirement development and requirement management tools such as Codebeamer, Jama, RV&S, etc.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) languages and development/simulation tools such as SysML, Matlab/Simulink (especially Stateflow), Siemens AMESIM, or equivalent toolsets.
  • Working knowledge of CAN, including communication protocols such as J1939, ISO, CANFD, and UDS, as well as experience using CAN analysis tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, CAPL, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of high-level programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic components (e.g., relays, contactors, fuses, etc.) and electronics (e.g., PWM, LSD, HSD, H-bridges, filters, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative electrical features that align with current and future Off-Road Vehicle and Polaris platforming needs.
  • Translate stakeholder goals into clear, actionable feature and function requirements that meet diagnostic, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define calibration and configuration strategies to enable feature scalability across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Use Simulink and model-based design to simulate the functional behavior of new electrical features to refine and validate written requirements.
  • Create and execute Feature Integration Plans to evaluate on-vehicle performance.
  • Manage software calibrations and vehicle configurations to confirm vehicle integration readiness and to ensure successful product launches.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews to ensure alignment across engineering, product, manufacturing, and service teams.
  • Drive feature-level DFMEA and HARA activities to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Troubleshoot complex vehicle issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the development of VECS engineering standards, guidelines, best practices, and templates to support continuous improvement.
