About the position

The Sr. Content Designer at the University of Phoenix is responsible for crafting engaging and user-friendly content across digital products and services. This role emphasizes the principles of content design, including clarity, empathy, and accessibility, while mentoring junior designers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the student experience. The position is fully remote, promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate closely with UX designers and product leads to understand user needs and align content strategies with business objectives.
  • Leverage storytelling and conversation design to create compelling language that fits the UOPX brand.
  • Define customer problem statements and create personas to craft engaging content.
  • Lead discovery methods and competitive analysis to inform product roadmaps.
  • Conduct audits of existing experiences to refine content strategies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies to enhance content effectiveness.
  • Create low-fidelity wireframes and contribute to high-fidelity prototypes using design tools.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand customer needs and take products from conception to launch.
  • Conduct user interviews to iterate on content design based on feedback.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to content design peers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or Human-centered Design; UX Writing/Content Design Bootcamp preferred.
  • 6 years of experience as a Content Designer, UX Writer, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and user-centered content design.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content management systems like AEM.
  • Experience with design tools like Figma and Miro.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a UX Writing/Content Design bootcamp.
  • Familiarity with ADA and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Experience conducting usability testing and A/B testing.
