As a Senior Consultant in Investment Accounting at Northern Trust, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of investment accounting and regulatory reporting. This position requires a sound understanding of accounting and financial principles related to investment and regulatory reporting on both a Statutory and GAAP basis. You will be responsible for maintaining appropriate books and records for all client investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with prescribed guidance. Your expertise will be essential in managing investment activity records, including fixed income, equity, and various other securities, while also reviewing and analyzing investment activity for client portfolios. In this role, you will complete month-end closing processes and activities in a timely manner, monitor interfaces between custody systems and accounting systems to ensure accurate transaction data capture, and maintain client books and records. You will also produce essential reports such as Profit & Loss statements and Trial Balances, responding to client-related reporting requests. Collaboration with various operational and client servicing groups will be key to your success, as will maintaining documentation for appropriate policies and procedures. Your experience with the Annual and Quarterly NAIC Statutory Investment Schedules, including Schedule D and Schedule DB, will be invaluable. You will leverage your knowledge of fixed income and equity securities processing on investment accounting systems like PAM, CAMRA, or FAM, and your understanding of derivatives and special asset classes will enhance your contributions to the team.
