This role is a key member of the CSIO Operations team, serving as a strategic operations partner to the Chief Innovation and Digital Officer while gaining direct exposure to executive decision-making. In this position, you will spend approximately 50% of your time driving and optimizing day-to-day operations for the EIDO. The remaining 50% will be dedicated to leading the CSIO Integrated Portfolio, providing a single source for portfolio data and reporting, enabling data-driven decision making and actionable insights for leaders and fostering alignment and efficiencies across the team. Due to the nature of this role, it will be hybrid to the Columbus, OH offices and will manage direct reports. T his role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. Requirements

  • Education: Undergraduate studies in business, marketing, product or engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Typically, ten or more years of diverse business experiences with an emphasis on strategy, finance, innovation and product management. Experience working in PowerPoint and presentation creation; Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Diverse business experience, especially in innovation and digital and the development of new products, new services, and building new businesses. Must have an understanding of the various business building blocks of the new opportunity to development of an investable business case and new business models, you should possess a quick and keen understanding of past, current and future business and technical strategies, technologies, and current trends.
  • Entrepreneurial approach with the ability to explore business opportunities in a structured yet iterative way.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills and a proven track record to think strategically about customer needs, market dynamics and business impact.
  • Natural curiosity about people and customers and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Excellent organizational skills, problem solving, prioritizing and managing multiple, parallel projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to act as a change agent and align teams on new insights and ways of working.
  • Ability to clearly articulate findings and recommendations, as well as to analyze the results of modeling and testing.
  • Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct support for creating and advancing capabilities, providing thought leadership, advisory services and insights regarding alignment of portfolios to strategic priorities and growth goals.
  • Provides strategic leadership in the development of processes and recursive execution of portfolio prioritization, financial modeling, resource allocation and decision-making governance of an extensive and valuable portfolio budget.
  • Provides recommendations for business partners on selecting and managing business investments to achieve strategic priorities.
  • Leads development of key analytics, analyzes portfolio performance against goals and identifies recommendations for improvement.
  • Keeps a pulse on industry movement and activities and remains on top of key trends within insurance, financial services, startups and tech companies with a focus on innovation portfolio and metrics.
  • Drives continuous improvement as necessary to maximize value.
  • Ensures effective operations of ongoing portfolio processes.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
