About The Position
POSITION: Sr. Construction Inspector (Civil), starting immediately. LOCATION: LaGuardia Airport, Queens, NY 11371 SCOPE: Primarily airport and building concrete work, civil site work, paving work, drainage systems, hydrant fuel systems, structural, and maintenance of traffic, with some electrical, environmental, and plumbing knowledge. REQUIREMENTS - Willingness to learn and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Resident Engineer, other contract staff, facility staff, both in person and via two-way communications. Ability to read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of potential issues. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Ability to conduct preconstruction and construction progress meetings, coordinate multiple work locations, perform audit inspection throughout the construction process, coordinate for quality assurance inspection of completed work. Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at LGA, and the various departments within the facility. Verify safety procedures are maintained. Working knowledge of NYCBC. Coordinate contractors work with the Facility as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience inspecting construction work varying in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift)
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance and LGA SIDA card
- Trained in OSHA 30-hour construction safety
- 2-Hour Awareness Level – MPT
- 4-Hour Awareness Level – Excavation/Trenching
- 8-Hour User Level – Fall Protection/Lift
Nice To Haves
- Aeronautical construction experience is desirable
- ICC/NICET Level 3 Asphalt or Highway Construction
- ACI Concrete Special Inspector
- Work Zone Safety Certifications are desirable
