GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join Construction Team in St. Louis, MO ! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our St. Louis, MO office. What you’ll be challenged to do: This is an excellent career opportunit y for an experienced candidate with a minimum of 10 years' professional experience to join a collaborative team environment. This role i nspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This role will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
• A safety-first mindset.
• Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended, but not required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
• Ability and desire to lead.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
• Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
• Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
• Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
• Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
• Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
• Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
• Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
• Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport
