We are currently seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Cincinnati office. As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and safety of infrastructure construction projects. This position is responsible for monitoring field activities, inspecting construction materials and workmanship, and serving as a key liaison between contractors, project managers, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings seasoned judgment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong understanding of construction standards and specifications. This is a field-based role that requires attention to detail, technical knowledge, and effective communication to ensure projects are executed to design and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection or construction materials testing, with increasing responsibility.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, specifications, codes, and safety practices.
  • Proficient in reading construction drawings, field documentation, and project specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with stakeholders and team members.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Certifications include: ACI Level I Certification, ODOT Compaction, ODOT Traffic Work Zone, ODOT Flexible Pavement.
  • Other certifications such as ODOT, NICET, HMA field, concrete field; American Concrete Institute (ACI) concrete field testing, etc. will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of civil and infrastructure construction activities, including but not limited to earthwork, concrete placement, drainage systems, asphalt paving, structural components, and utility installations (water, sewer, etc.).
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials to verify conformance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Document daily construction progress, maintain field reports, and communicate inspection results and non-conformance issues to project teams.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction schedules to ensure work meets design intent.
  • Calculate quantities for payment applications and verify contractor-submitted quantities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and public agencies to resolve technical issues and maintain project alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior inspectors or technicians as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records and assist with closeout documentation.
  • Ensure safety protocols are being followed on-site and report any unsafe conditions or violations.
  • Other duties as assigned to support successful project delivery.
