About The Position

The Senior Compound Management Technician provides critical laboratory support through the preparation, handling, and management of chemical and compound formulations. This role ensures accurate and timely compound creation, compliant documentation, and safe handling of all materials to enable reliable scientific results. The technician also manages the associated chemical inventory, maintains equipment, and supports overall lab efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline and 4+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of experience in a laboratory or chemical handling environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy in chemical preparation and data recording.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GxP principles, laboratory safety, and chemical handling procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory software platforms (e.g., CISPro, ELN, SAP preferred).
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals in a fast-paced research environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field with prior experience in compound formulation or chemical inventory management.
  • Familiarity with automation systems, liquid handling, and analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC).
  • Working knowledge of GLP/GxP, SDS/MSDS management, and laboratory documentation practices.
  • Experience with lean process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional coordination between compound management and research teams to ensure alignment of formulation priorities, scheduling, and data integrity across projects.
  • Evaluate, qualify, and implement new technologies, digital tools to improve accuracy, throughput, and compliance within compound logistics and lab operations.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory and materials management.
  • Formulate and prepare compound allocations (2-3 per week, or as required) using manual pipetting and automation per SOPs and Work Instructions.
  • Register, label, disburse, and archive compound allocations in customer systems with precision and full traceability.
  • Receive, store, track, and deliver chemicals, consumables, and bulk materials across laboratory and warehouse locations.
  • Monitor chemical and consumable stock levels, conduct periodic checks, and coordinate timely replenishment to prevent research delays.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, automation platforms, and associated data systems (e.g., CISPro, ELN).
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain formulation equipment to ensure quality and operational readiness.
  • Conduct raw material acceptance testing, sampling, and reporting to confirm compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and ensure adherence to GLP/GxP, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Place and track chemical and consumable orders, liaise with procurement, and resolve delivery or invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist in developing and refining SOPs, implementing lean practices, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide training and cross-coverage support within the lab support organization as needed.
  • Collaborate with scientists, safety personnel, and support teams to ensure seamless laboratory operations.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation range of $50,000 to $68,000, determined by factors including internal equity, work location, and individual qualifications.
