About The Position

Responsible for evaluating and analyzing commercial loan requests and preparing supporting loan documents, based on KFCU lending policy and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university with a minimum of 9 credits in Accounting and Finance.
  • Two to four years’ experience in commercial lending, administration, and/or underwriting required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Credit Union, bank, or comparable training program desired.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a financial environment analyzing business and personal financial statements and tax returns; preparation of cash flows and researching economic data and a variety of resources to determine overall financial strength and future viability of the relationship being analyzed. This should including compiling the researched data into a comprehensive analysis for rendering decisions when appropriate.
  • Formal credit training and/or experience is required and can be in the form of attendance at industry-sponsored training programs in credit analysis and commercial loan underwriting offered and/or presented by Credit Union or banking schools or seminars.
  • Experience and ability to work in a financial spreading system equivalent to Sageworks, Baker Hill, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce documents, spreadsheets, databases, etc. with Windows-based software.
  • Must develop and maintain full knowledge of consumer lending regulations, KFCU policies, and guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with business and community leaders as well as with KFCU staff and management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must maintain expertise in commercial/consumer lending policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Must maintain expertise in Excel and other software such as Meridian Link and Laser Pro required for generating accurate and timely documents and reports.
  • Must maintain a positive and professional demeanor and working relationships with credit union members, applicants, staff and management.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all credit union and member information.
  • Must maintain effective business relationships with staff in other departments.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of KFCU policies and procedures necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Extensive use of personal PC required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as use of internet and e-mail.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial data related to new and renewal commercial loan requests including but not limited to Unsecured (Working Capital) Lines of credit, Asset-based lines of credit, and commercial equipment / automobile secured term loans.
  • Provide support to the Lending Team with the expectation of increasing and managing a commercial loan portfolio.
  • Assist in preparing loan presentations for loan officers to present to Chief Loan Officer, Senior and Executive Loan Committees. Presentations might require independent industry, economic and company research, financial statement spreads, pro-forma and cash flow analysis.
  • Assist Director Consumer Lending in recruitment, screening, interviewing and selecting additional underwriters as MBL growth warrants.
  • Assist VP of Business Services in policy, process and procedure improvements as needed.
  • Training and supervision of additional underwriters as MBL growth warrants.
  • Provides “key” support for ongoing development of Commercial Loan Origination System (Credit Quest) particularly in the Financial Analyzer portion of the program.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding and compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Serves on Business Loan Committee (non-voting capacity).
  • Conducts credit investigations, prepares credit approval reports and summarizes credit analyses for review and decision of the Business Loan Committee.
  • Analyzes and evaluates financial condition and credit worthiness of prospective and existing borrowers and borrowing entities.
  • Prepares written analysis, summary and supporting documentation for credit decision or recommendation.
  • Provides in-depth projections and financial analyses, including the performance of ‘what if’ scenarios that will test the reasonableness of all projections. (Stress-Testing).
  • Works in partnership with commercial lenders to obtain all necessary information and clarification of financial analysis materials and resources.
  • Cross sells and promotes credit union products and services as opportunities arise.
  • Tracks loan progress through electronic system to insure access to status is readily available to all involved.
  • Provides tracking and updated information for manager’s review as needed.
  • Assists processors and loan officers with interpretations of applicable policies, operational guidelines and questions on specific loan files.
  • Effectively conveys all relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with immediate supervisor and the team, keeping others advised of progress and/or situations.
  • Complies with all credit union policies, service standards, procedural guidelines, and regulatory compliance; and completes all assigned training.
  • Responsible for using Integrity when using the performance review system.
  • Supports and contributes to the credit union’s strategic plan.
  • Serves as additional support for consumer centralized underwriting during peak volume periods as needed.
  • Provides additional support to KFCU consumer extension and resolution lending policy, process and procedure.
  • Performs all other duties deemed necessary to enable the department to meet its goals.
