Sr Cloud Engineer

VersantNew York, NY
$175,000 - $217,000

About The Position

The Senior Cloud Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for designing, building, automating, and operating VERSANT’s cloud infrastructure and platforms. This engineer will work closely with application teams, platform engineers, and security teams to build scalable, secure, and highly automated cloud environments that support a wide range of media workloads. The role focuses primarily on AWS at enterprise scale, including multi-account environments, AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Identity Center, networking, and shared cloud services. The engineer will help implement cloud standards, automate infrastructure using infrastructure as code, and enable application teams through CI/CD pipelines and reusable cloud infrastructure patterns. VERSANT operates a mix of legacy applications and modern cloud-native workloads, and this role will help migrate, modernize, and support these systems while ensuring consistent architecture and operational practices across environments. This role also requires strong knowledge of hybrid connectivity between on-premises (internal data centers and third parties), and cloud environments, as well as cross-account resource sharing and networking. Experience working with Azure and GCP is a strong plus as the organization evolves toward broader multi-cloud capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud platforms and services.
  • Experience working with large AWS organizations, including AWS Organizations and multi-account architectures.
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, routing, transit architectures, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of IAM, identity federation, and AWS Identity Center.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with container platforms, serverless technologies, or cloud-native architectures is a plus.
  • Additional experience with Azure or GCP is a strong plus.

  • Implement and maintain cloud identity and access controls using AWS IAM and AWS Identity Center (SSO).
  • Support implementation of security controls, logging, and compliance guardrails across cloud environments.
  • Ensure environments follow company standards for security, monitoring, and governance.
  • Hybrid Connectivity & Networking
  • Support connectivity between on-premises data centers and AWS environments using VPN, Direct Connect, and hybrid networking patterns.
  • Implement secure cross-account networking and shared services architectures.
  • Operations & Reliability
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure and services to ensure reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Participate in incident response and operational troubleshooting.
  • Continuously improve platform reliability through automation, observability, and operational best practices.
