MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as a business liaison for assigned departments within the health system to ensure that issues are uncovered and recognized before they become critical problems. The Senior System Analyst not only understands core system processes / interdependencies for these departments, but trains co-workers and aids in the research of reported issues and the implementation of resolutions. Has an advanced knowledge of assigned applications and clearly understands the integration impact. Serves on interdisciplinary/hospital committees representing IS in driving the use and application of electronic solutions Identify and resolve workflow issues - propose new workflows to optimize electronic solutions Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex business issues and provides systems solutions that improve business operations. The Senior System Analyst will multi-task across numerous applications. Provides ongoing maintenance and advancement of assigned HIS applications, databases, interfaces and reports through effective implementation of solutions, which support the user and application needs of the organization. In this capacity, the Senior System Analyst is responsible for implementation, testing, training, documentation and ongoing operational efforts of the HIS application software. Independently manage large maintenance projects ensuring the applications are at the most recent release. Oversee team projects tracking team deadlines and deliverables. Take an active role in coordinating testing effort for major upgrades and patches. Provides input to the Team Lead, System Analyst on the planning and design of HIS applications. Works effectively as part of a team in resolving issues escalated through the Help Desk in a timely manner. Investigates, tests, solves problems with HIS application software, databases, interfaces and reports. Provides high level of customer service and appropriate coverage off-hours for critical problems ensuring Service Level Agreements are met. Actively participates in the process of identifying service issues with the outsourced Help Desk and recommending solutions. Plan, Design, and Implement assigned applications on schedule while assisting the Lead Analysts with the promotion / acceptance of process workflow redesign. This effort includes software evaluation, project management, process change, application training, dictionary build, application testing, integration testing, data conversion and production support. The Senior System Analyst will also ensure the use of role-based access. Assume responsibility for application-related project efforts by coordinating with IS and other departments as necessary to ensure proper communication and execution. This includes design and architecture definition as appropriate, project planning, change management coordination, vendor integration and coordination, user / department communication / notification, etc. Active participant of Information Service's PMO responsible for ensuring each project is managed following the standard IS methodologies. Additionally, shares in the responsibility for the maintenance of standard project methodologies and procedures. Manages each project following the standard IS methodologies and processes. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested to maintain a high level of service. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Demonstrates professional work behavior by following Service Standards and Success factors. Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training is required. Certification in Inpatient Willow and Beacon required At least 5 years' experience with appropriate clinical or financial HIS applications support is required. Strong, demonstrable experience implementing and supporting HIS applications within a hospital / health system is also required. Experience with Epic applications is strongly preferred. Must have software Module Certification or able to obtain within six (6) months of employment. Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills. Strong customer service skills. Demonstrates Expertise with healthcare business processes and associated HIS application software necessary to support those processes within an integrated delivery system. Expertise in HIS application migration planning, design and implementation. Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the execution complex projects Knowledge in installation and maintenance of HIS application software. Experienced with vendors of services and products relevant to application service environments. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite and competency with Microsoft Visio or Microsoft Project. Ability to: Analyze and resolve HIS application software, interface and report issues. Interact professionally with client community and be committed, helpful, responsive and effective in supporting healthcare applications and activities. Ensure the integrity of all Stamford Health System information and maintain confidentiality of all hospital, employee, and patient information. Conduct and manage special projects as assigned. This includes work breakdowns, task definition, team leadership, vendor coordination and regular status reporting. Provide administrative reports as required, both periodic updates on activities and project status, as well as special reports in response to user or management inquiry. Provide vendor liaison for principal projects and evaluate vendor proposals.
