About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of claim clerical support duties for the Service Center or for the Claim Office. This role involves matching proper file and/or claim numbers on unidentified correspondence using various automated systems, typing a variety of materials such as letters and benefit notices, and performing control operator functions for various data systems. The position requires maintaining accurate records of file activity, receiving deliveries, preparing outgoing mail, and performing various clerical duties such as answering phones and data entry. The candidate will assist in updating jurisdictional notices and manuals, pull files for audits, and contact agents and insured for routine claims.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or equivalent in related work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the claims/liability environment or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations and claim file systems and procedures.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and possess excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Matches proper file and/or claim number on unidentified correspondence using automated systems.
  • Types letters, benefit notices, and memorandums for medical appointments and external clients.
  • Performs control operator functions for various Service Center or Claim Office data systems.
  • Retrieves and/or re-files items from central storage and maintains accurate records of file activity.
  • Receives dock and messenger service deliveries and verifies accuracy of delivered material.
  • Prepares outgoing mail for shipment, including necessary attachments and sealing.
  • Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, taking messages, and data entry.
  • Assists in updating jurisdictional notices and manuals used in the office.
  • Pulls files from storage for in-house state audits.
  • Prepares files in electronic form for state audits.
  • Contacts agents and insured on routine claims to obtain coverage information.
  • Issues payments and requests wage information for adjusters.
  • Schedules medical appointments and sends appropriate correspondence.
  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
  • Upholds the Crawford Code of Conduct.
