The position involves investigating and settling advanced, large loss, complex claims promptly and equitably under minimal supervision. The role requires working within established authority on moderate-to-difficult claims, reviewing coverages, determining liability and compensability, securing information, arranging property damage appraisals, and settling claims utilizing best practices. The individual will evaluate and set reserves using independent judgment and assist supervisors and defense attorneys in preparing cases for litigation. Additionally, the role includes conducting training and mentoring new hires.

  • Investigate and settle advanced, large loss, complex claims promptly and equitably under minimal supervision.
  • Review coverages and determine liability and compensability for claims.
  • Secure information and arrange property damage appraisals.
  • Utilize claims best practices to settle claims.
  • Evaluate and set reserves using independent judgment.
  • Assist supervisor and defense attorneys in preparing cases for litigation.
  • Conduct training and mentor new hires.
  • Manage all aspects of investigative activity on complex claims.
  • Direct discovery and litigation strategy with legal counsel.
  • Establish reserves and authorize payments within scope of authority.
  • Develop subrogation and third party recovery potential and follow reclaim procedures.
  • Analyze claims activities and prepare reports for clients, carriers, and/or management.
  • Participate in claim reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4-8 years of technical claims investigations/settling experience in Claims or a similar organization.
  • Ability to work independently while assimilating various technical subjects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Effective advanced interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of internal and external clients.
  • Industry Designations: Preferred IIA, AIC, AEI, and/or CPCU.
  • License Requirements: Per State or Jurisdictional requirements.
