The Sr. Continuous Improvement Engineer (SrCIE) position at Amazon's Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) organization is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our Robotics, Automation, and Packaging systems. This position is integral to the WW Continuous Improvement (CI) team, which is dedicated to driving technical hardware, software, and process improvements across our extensive network. The SrCIE will engage with various internal partners, including operations, maintenance, engineering, and project management teams, to gather insights and ideas for continuous improvement from the field. This will be achieved through data analytics, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and the Voice of the Customer (VOC) methodology. Once improvement ideas are identified, the SrCIE will oversee the entire CI lifecycle, which includes creating prototypes, conducting lab tests, building business cases, and developing robust engineering solutions. The role requires a deep understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, controls, robotics, and automation, ensuring that the solutions developed not only meet technical specifications but also enhance the customer experience for operations and maintenance stakeholders. The SrCIE will also play a crucial role in influencing the design of new products under development, leveraging their expertise to ensure that new solutions align with operational needs and customer expectations. In this role, the SrCIE will utilize the 4M methodology (Machine, Method, huMan, Material) to conduct holistic analyses of customer needs and improve MSP solutions throughout their lifecycle. The position demands strong analytical skills to simplify complex problems and communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in for proposed solutions. The SrCIE will own the full lifecycle of improvement initiatives, from customer needs analysis to solution development, validation, and rollout, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders to drive change through continuous improvement efforts on-site. Additionally, the SrCIE will collaborate with the MSP Operations Innovation Lab to quickly prototype and test initiatives, establishing success criteria and leveraging MSP CX partners' skills for larger-scale rollouts and support of improvements. The role also involves developing and owning roadmaps for MSP solutions, taking into account inputs from various internal teams.
