About The Position

This role entails providing overarching Chemical Processing and Engineer support to one of Apex’s most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer. Over the last 25 years Apex has worked hand and hand with the national aerospace manufacturer helping them achieve their Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomic and Safety Engineering goals.The incumbent will serve as a Senior Chemical Processing Engineer contractor supporting the aerospace manufacture’s chemical processing team located in Wichita KS. This role will be a full-time, onsite position. The client has requested 5 days a week/8-hour day, day shift. The role is slated for 3 months with possible extension based on performance and client need. If selected, the individual will be responsible for deploying process safety information and command media. Additionally, they shall analyze chemical processing metrics and information, recommend and implement improvements to critical chemical processing operations. They will provide technical and regulatory information to cross functional teams and presents proposed design/build solutions, coordinates, develop and deliver training programs that address chemical process management, participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis. Lastly, they will develop plans for scheduled and unscheduled process interruptions with cross functional teams as well as lead and participate in hazard analyses and risk assessments, develop safeguards and provide team recommendations. The incumbent shall have a strong overall understanding of chemical processing and engineering and will also provide project leadership and project management functions to deploy a national program at the local site. Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a team to produce results. As a disclaimer, this role is subject to termination at any time due to potential client finical and or budgetary restrictions. In turn, the role is also subject to extension.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with approximately 20 or more years' related work experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills with people and organizational skills
  • Chemical Processing, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Safety and toxicology knowledge/background
  • Experience with data management and report preparation.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Bringing a strong background in occupational health and safety sciences such as; chemistry, physics, toxicology, radiation, safety etc.
  • Applicable experience in following regulatory methodologies for gathering impactful data.
  • Understanding emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods.

Responsibilities

  • Deploying process safety information and command media

  • Ensure compliance with all EHS/OSHA/ACGIH and NIOSH regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization
  • Collect, assess organizing and summarizing data; implementing solutions and changes with in programs to optimize employee safety
  • Lead audits, inspections and investigations and coordinates resolution of issues
  • Design, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan. Monitors and reports progress on plan completion as directed
  • Work with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity
  • Act as an advisor to the customer on occupational safety and health issues
  • Provide input to project managers, client relationship managers, or business development staff on potential new EHS support projects. Participates in business development activities as directed
