About The Position

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for leading assigned categories through end‑to-end category management, including strategy development, financial performance, assortment, pricing, promotions, and vendor management. This role owns category P&L performance and applies strong cost accounting principles to drive profitable growth across Circle K’s store network. This position requires demonstrated category management experience, strong financial and cost accounting acumen, and the ability to translate strategy into execution. Dispensed beverage category experience is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Category management experience in retail, CPG, or foodservice
  • Proven experience owning category strategy and financial performance
  • Strong cost accounting and financial analysis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute category strategies
  • Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Experience leading or mentoring others
  • Proficiency with Excel and category analytics tools

  • Dispensed beverage category experience (fountain, frozen, or beverage systems)
  • Convenience retail, grocery, or multi‑unit foodservice experience
  • Experience supporting large, geographically dispersed store networks

Responsibilities

  • Own category strategy aligned to Circle K merchandising and growth objectives
  • Develop and execute category plans, promotional calendars, and pricing strategies
  • Manage category P&L, including revenue, margin, cost of goods, and working capital
  • Apply cost accounting principles to pricing, margin optimization, and vendor negotiations
  • Analyze category, SKU‑level, and cost drivers to improve profitability
  • Lead assortment decisions, planograms, item introductions, and discontinuations
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, and joint business planning
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (sales, margin, turns, in‑stock, inventory)
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Support consistent execution across a large, multi‑unit retail environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
