The focus of the position will be under minimal supervision. The Senior Buyer competitively bids, negotiates, prepares, executes, and expedites purchase orders and contracts for equipment, materials, components, and services required by the company, consistent with quality, delivery, and service requirements. Work experience with a privately held company will be beneficial.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; business related.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of Purchasing/Buyer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Request, obtain, and analyze comprehensive supplier quotations for large volume orders to support Parts Sales and Contract Engineering/Sales inquiries.
  • Assure that relevant specifications are made available in all requests for quotations, solicit/recommend cost savings alternatives and thoroughly document all transactions.
  • Plays a senior role for handling new suppliers or difficult situations.
  • Negotiate, prepare and execute purchase orders/contracts in accordance with established guidelines for ethics, cost management, contracting, terms and conditions, changes, and approvals. Thoroughly document all transactions.
  • Expedite purchase orders/contracts to ensure that delivery requirements are met.
  • Follow all quality problems to resolution, assuring that suppliers reimburse the company for problems shown to be caused by them (tracked via FSTR/SDR.
  • Follow all accounts payable discrepancies to resolution.
  • Evaluate current and prospective suppliers, assessing administrative, financial, managerial, product development, capacity, manufacturing, quality, delivery and service capabilities/performance.
  • Coordinate closely with Global Product Development (GPD), Contract Engineering and Quality Assurance departments in the evaluation of new suppliers.
  • May provide some guidance and direction to other Buyers.
  • All other duties as assigned.
