About The Position

Nintendo of America Inc. is seeking a candidate to support the 2nd party business team by translating written and verbal communications related to software development and game design documents. The role involves providing cultural context, managing tools and databases, and offering interpretation for multi-party conference calls. The candidate will also assist in scheduling, planning, and preparation of materials, while maintaining a detailed knowledge of internal policies and workflows. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage daily workflows and lead team discussions.

Requirements

  • Four to five years of related experience.
  • Intermediate to high level of proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Japanese business culture and etiquette.
  • Extensive knowledge of video game software/hardware and industry strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong problem solving and cross-group collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Interpretation experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to articulate a shared vision to build effective teams and promote teamwork across various groups.
  • Valid passport may be required for international travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Native level in verbal and written communication in English and Japanese.

Responsibilities

  • Translates written and verbal communications (emails, technical documents, presentations, etc.) related to software development and game design documents.
  • Supports the 2nd party business team by reviewing and presenting game proposals under management direction.
  • Chooses equivalent expressions in the target language that convey the intended meaning of the source language.
  • Manages various tools and maintains databases to improve usability and efficiency.
  • Provides interpretation for multi-party conference calls of up to three hours with short notice.
  • Assists in scheduling, planning, and preparation of materials for the team.
  • Prepares for interpreting sessions by reading and studying relevant subjects.
  • Maintains knowledge of internal policies and applies this to modify work practices accordingly.
  • Coordinates with internal and external groups on status updates to support planning.
  • Performs job responsibilities in adherence to corporate security policies and procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external contacts.
  • Acts as an informal resource for less experienced team members.
  • Manages daily workflow and leads team discussions.
