Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of best benefit administration practices and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of human resource experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
  • Communicate with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
  • Handle the FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work.
  • Work directly with the FMLA third-party administrator to ensure that all employer communications are timely and accurate.
  • Run reports from the third-party administrator to ensure that leave data is accurate.
  • Ensure the utmost in highest customer experience related to benefit and leave administration.
  • Oversee the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s).
  • Ensure that leaves are accurately updated in the ADP system and properly communicated to the payroll team in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate other leave and benefit requests through professional communication via direct email, meetings, and the HR ticketing system.
  • Administer other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Reconcile, analyze, and process benefit invoices accurately and in a timely manner to ensure compliance with company benefit contracts.
  • Manage communications about benefits during leave of absences.
  • Be an administrator of the company benefit carrier portal to run reports, update employee profiles, etc. as needed and with accuracy.
  • Conduct the weekly benefit orientation program for employees and new hires.
  • Administer company reimbursement benefits offered to eligible employees including but not limited to massage, tuition reimbursement, etc.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and benefit related matters in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices and processes.
  • Always preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable benefit, leave, and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
