About The Position
Position: Sr. Backend / Java Engineer Business Unit: Digital Execution Compensation W2 (with 56 hours PTA): $60-$70/hour C2C: $70-$75/hour Conversion to Salary Required (proof of ID must be submitted with each submittal) Location : Hybrid (Onsite 3x/week) Accepting candidates from any of the following office locations: Vienna, VA Pensacola, FL Winchester, VA San Diego, CA Experience 7-10+ years total backend development experience Interview Process Microsoft Teams video interview (technical screening) In-person panel interview Tech Stack / Tools Java 17+ Spring / Spring Boot Microservices Architecture Microsoft Azure (strongly preferred) Databases & SQL Version Control: Git or SVN Azure DevOps (Note: Digital no longer uses Jira) AI-powered Dev Tools: GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted debugging
Requirements
- Strong understanding of web applications, web services, and networking
- Solid knowledge of application scaling and interconnected system performance
- Experience in Agile environments
- Familiarity with sustainable coding and energy-efficient system design
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for mobile and online banking channels
- Ensure service performance, quality, and responsiveness
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Analysts, QA, Frontend Engineers)
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and defects
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automation
