Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network, dedicated to providing fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers in underserved locations globally. The program is driven by innovation, seeking individuals to advance space-based and wireless systems. The Sr Avionics Lab Engineer will join the electrical engineering hardware development team, focusing on designing Amazon Leo's satellite electronic sub-systems. This role requires hands-on experience with early electronic designs, prototypes, and test fixtures within the space/aerospace industry. Candidates should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and adept at solving complex, novel problems. The EE Avionics Dev team supports Amazon Leo's Electrical Engineering department, collaborating closely with electrical engineers on the design and testing of early satellite subsystem prototypes and test hardware. Each team member is provided a personal desk in the Avionics Lab, equipped with precision soldering and microscope equipment. Work is often emergent and unplanned, necessitating direct interaction with engineers to deliver functional satellite prototypes. The team's work hours align with engineering hours and adjust as needed to meet program demands. Based in Redmond, Washington, the EE Avionics Dev team maintains multiple IPC certifications and receives technical training to operate and maintain precision automated equipment. The team upholds a high quality standard, consistently delivering error-free workmanship to internal customers, and its technical skills and lab capabilities are crucial for providing engineers with quick-turn services to facilitate critical test gating design release to Amazon Leo production.
