The Sr Avionics Controls Systems Lead Integration Engineer at Blue Origin plays a critical role in the development and integration of avionics and control systems for space vehicles. This position involves leading the transition of cross-engine programs from low-rate development to high-rate production, ensuring safe and repeatable space flight. The engineer will be responsible for integrating and validating engine controller hardware and software, managing risks, and collaborating across multiple disciplines to support the company's vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space.

  • Perform and lead the development of specific project plans for the Integration team.
  • Establish best practices and processes for integration, making technical trade-offs and managing risks.
  • Track execution and resolve blocking issues to enable successful engine build transitions.
  • Lead the establishment of tooling, equipment, and software for high-rate production and acceptance testing of engines.
  • Participate in program review boards such as Risk and Opportunity Management and Engineering Review.
  • Work inter-dependently with other leaders to drive organizational progress.
  • Use technical judgement to select optimal methods and techniques for solutions, balancing risk and producibility.
  • Mentor and educate Blue Origin employees on engineering processes and methods.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality engineers, and technicians in developing and manufacturing rocket engines.
  • Minimum of a B.S. Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar.
  • 8+ years of Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Engineering project management, and/or process/production improvement experience.
  • Experience with configuration management, requirements management processes, and risk management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills, and digital skills (MS suite, ITS/JIRA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness and success in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Passion for hands-on problem solving and Avionics integration.
  • Experience with Primavera (P6), CREO, Windchill, Confluence/Wiki, etc.
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle (Development-Sustainment).
  • Experience with human spaceflight or high-performance aircraft systems.
  • Experience in technical execution for complex aerospace systems.
