About The Position

We are seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer with a strong background in computer science or electrical engineering to join our biomedical engineering team. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and scaling processes that support the design, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in LabVIEW, firmware development, and data acquisition systems, and will thrive at the interface between hardware, software, and process engineering. This role is well-suited for an electrical engineer looking to apply their skills across both hardware and software domains, with active involvement in the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in process development, test engineering, or automation.
  • Experience in the biomedical or medical device industry (GMP/ISO 13485/FDA-regulated environment).
  • Hands-on experience with LabVIEW for instrumentation, automation, and test systems.
  • Knowledge of firmware development (C/C++, Python, or similar) for embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of data acquisition systems, sensors, and control systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with signal processing, control algorithms, or real-time systems.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, DOE, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of electronics debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize processes, tools, and equipment to support biomedical device development and production.
  • Design, implement, and maintain LabVIEW-based test and automation systems. Ensuring a simple interface for inspectors, minimizing opportunity for human error.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate firmware and embedded systems into device testing workflows.
  • Analyze process data and use computational methods to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to bridge R&D and manufacturing, building systems designed for easy validation and rapid scale-up.
  • Responsibilities include writing requirements and validating the process and software.
  • Author technical documentation including test protocols, work instructions, and validation reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test equipment, instrumentation, and process automation.
  • Support design transfer activities to manufacturing, ensuring scalability and repeatability.
