About The Position

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Associate Underwriter I. In this role, you will assist the Underwriter in the quoting, issuance, and maintenance of new and renewal business for Workers' Compensation and/or Property & Casualty Lines. You will take ownership of the overall process and workflow for new and renewal accounts, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and requesting the necessary underwriting information to facilitate policy quotes, issuance, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in a related discipline i.e., Marketing, Finance, Business
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in insurance can be utilized on a year for year basis as a substitute for a degree.
  • Expert knowledge and/or multiple years' experience with commercial lines of insurance (Specifically Property, GL, Umbrella & Auto Lines is a plus), i.e., classification and experience rating.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem solve
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to partner effectively with Underwriters
  • Successful in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change
  • Operates with autonomy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quotes based on set criteria/thresholds/revisions and instructions from Underwriting
  • Assist in reviewing quotes in rating system pre-writing to ensure quality control for new and renewal business.
  • Solicit renewal information from broker/agency to include sending required pre-renewal notifications
  • Quality assurance of below throughout the lifecycle of policy: Loss information in account summary, Underwriting platform/system, Operations and exposures, Pricing, Premium Audits, Endorsements
  • Bind & Issue Policies: Post bind, complete necessary Underwriting notifications, bind reinsurance, tracks quote subjectivities and update various policy expiration activities including quotes that were not accepted for future new business pipelining.
  • Review endorsement transactions, cancellation requests and non-renewals for forwarding to Underwriter or approval if within AU Guidelines
  • Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel
  • Assist in training new hires
  • Participates in Job Shadows and Quality Control
  • Takes the lead in overseeing and resolving Regulatory Bureau/Agency Errors and Crits
  • Triage and training for Fronting and Reinsurance Carriers
  • Complete special projects as assignment by manager
  • Assist in basic workflow and lower-level technical questions from the team
  • Participates in Enterprise Initiatives that require a Subject Matter Expert
  • Process Filings when needed
  • Handling the most difficult and complex accounts
  • Master level knowledge within the specific Lines of Business(es)
  • Ability to quote and bill Loss Sensitive and Retro rated policies
  • Assist Leadership with maintaining written procedures are efficient, up to date and being utilized within the team
  • Liaison to other departments within the Enterprise as a Subject Matter Expert as it relates to: Underwriting Systems Development, Training & Quality Programs, Regulatory Bureau, etc.
  • Attends and supports Producer and UW via virtual and/or in person meetings
