Requirements

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience including object-oriented programming in Java and proficient in applying common design patterns
  • 2+ years' experience with development tools, such as IntelliJ/vscode, Git, Gradle, Jenkins or related technologies
  • 1+ year experience in concurrency, multithreading, service architectures, and distributed systems
  • BS in Computer Science or related fields required; graduate degree preferred
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced, high energy and lively work environment that is agile and deliver values incrementally and frequently
  • Collaborative team player
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient Linux/MacOS experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop software to monitor, tune, and diagnose Workday's cloud-based software platform
  • Craft and develop software instruments to monitor the health of the platform
  • Develop software tools to tune OMS for higher throughput and better efficiency
  • Manage and develop software tools to help diagnose the root cause of production incidents
  • Prioritize and design new products and features in conjunction with product management
  • Collaborate with architects, principal engineers and technical product managers to analyze functional requirements
  • Devise architecture designs that provide real scalability, low latency, and high availability
  • Schedule and estimate software project tasks
  • Participate in software quality assurance
  • Contribute to the development of the team, including reviews of methodologies, standards, and processes
  • Document designs and product components comprehensively
  • Resolve defects in response to escalated support issues
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
