About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Planning Engineer to join our growing team in our Canoga Park, CA office. In this role you will be responsible for reviewing the manufacturing work instructions for compliance against quality assurance requirements found in drawings, specifications, and command media procedures. You will work directly with manufacturing engineering, planning, and inspection functions to ensure process compliance to specification requirements. The primary manufacturing processes include joining (welding, brazing), heat treating, machining, chemical processing, control of the clean rooms and assembly operations. The primary inspection processes include precision measurement, and NDT (radiographic, ultrasonic, penetrant testing). You should be available to respond to internal customer needs including occasional weekend work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0-2 years of prior related quality experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience.
  • Valid driver's license; employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver's license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality principles, and hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced repetitive environment.
  • Experience reviewing work instructions for compliance to quality assurance requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
  • Shop floor experience in multiple process areas such as welding, machining, and NDT.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering in the creation and release of shop floor documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality inspection points and tests in build records (i.e NDT, GMIP, DCMA etc).
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with specification requirements.
  • Provide interpretation of requirements.
  • Ensure planning incorporates the proper certification and documentation requirements.
  • Work with program quality engineering to review contractual quality requirements.
  • Ensure applicable flowdown into Aerojet Rocketdyne manufacturing documentation and shop floor build records.
  • Review and approve process procedures and instructions.
  • Prepare concise and accurate procedures, specifications, work authorization documents and related figures.
  • Perform data analysis of quality performance trends, providing support to quality assurance planning for manufacturing assembly and test.
