Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Associate, Mechanical Design Engineer which is part of Alcon’s Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality. Processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Sr. Associate, Mechanical Design Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for contributing to the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems. You will create CAD models, conduct simulations, and evaluate prototypes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability standards. This position is on site in Fort Worth, Texas. A typical day will include: Contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems, applying engineering principles to support product development and manufacturing. • Assist in creating detailed CAD models, conducting basic simulations, and evaluating prototypes under supervision. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements. Develop expertise in mechanical design tools and methodologies Adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintain accurate and complete documentation, ensuring rigorous quality control • Complete all required training and meet individual job requirements. Commit to continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsible for the design and development of next-generation intraocular lenses and delivery systems that will be implanted in millions of patients around the world. Works with (and potentially leads) cross-functional project teams to design and develop new products applying DfX principles. Assists with the establishment of product requirements, often by interacting directly with cataract surgeons to understand user needs. Generates new design concepts and designs experiments to optimize designs while managing complex trade-offs. Draft protocols and support the execution of design verification testing Identify and troubleshoot technical failure modes and design risks, and propose solutions. Support lifecycle management of devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience
