About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Associate- Investment Accountant (Reporting) to join our Principal Asset Management Team. In this role, you will be responsible for investment accounting and financial reporting across multiple investment strategies and asset classes. The position partners closely with Asset Management, Investment Operations, Risk, Compliance, Tax, Audit, and Technology teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant investment reporting supported by strong controls and documentation. Investment Reporting & Financial Statements Responsible for monthly and quarterly investment reporting, including SEC filings (10Q and 10K), ECP, and other regulatory reporting requirements, as well as audit support Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reports, supporting internal management reporting as well as external and regulatory reporting deliverables. Apply U.S. GAAP to investment transactions and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory requirements Support senior team members in assessing accounting and reporting implications of investment strategies Controls, Compliance & Audit Execute established internal control procedures related to investment reporting Prepare, maintain, and organize audit documentation and support schedules Assist with risk mitigation efforts through accurate reporting and documentation Systems, Projects & Process Improvement Participate in system implementations and enhancements related to investment reporting Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and documentation of business and reporting requirements Assist with developing and enhancing automated reporting and reconciliation processes Cross Functional Collaboration Coordinate with cross functional partners to ensure accurate and consistent reporting of investment data Provide technical accounting guidance related to investment structures and reporting impacts Perform routine analysis related to investment performance and reporting trends Continuous Improvement Stay current on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting best practices Identify and recommend process and reporting improvements to enhance efficiency and control Operating at the intersection of financial services and technology, Principal builds financial tools that help our customers live better lives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience in financial services
  • Working knowledge of common investment products and strategies
  • Proficient in Excel; knowledge of basic reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • This position may require successful completion of a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preparing monthly and quarterly investment reports, including SEC documentation (10Q and 10K submissions), ECP, and other regulatory reporting standards, as well as audit support preferred
  • Experience with investment accounting systems such as PFI (PAM for investments) or similar platforms
