Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Associate Level Hydrogeologist for our Denver, CO (Broadway) office. The primary focus of this position is to take a technical lead role in support of our regional and international natural resource and industrial clients. The individual will engage complex projects related to saturated and unsaturated flow through geologic formations and managed material media. The successful candidate will evaluate geochemical characteristics of subsurface flow and assist in the management or mitigation of impacted groundwaters. The individual will provide guidance, support and mentorship to the existing geoscience team throughout our international mining business line support of projects. This position interacts throughout the global organization internally and externally with client and members of business and professional organizations. Travel may be required and some projects require visiting remote sites. Your Key Responsibilities Deep expertise in groundwater and geotechnical evaluations critical to dams, mining, environmental, and water‑resource programs. Proven ability to lead complex modeling efforts using Leapfrog, PHT3D, Hydrus, FEFLOW, and related tools. Strong communication skills and collaborative working relationships with cross‑disciplinary teams. Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating multi‑office project teams.

Requirements

  • Experience and capability in the following areas is strongly desired:
  • Groundwater modeling, aquifer evaluation, hydrograph analysis, and reactive transport modeling.
  • Water resources engineering, including source development, distribution, and mine water balance studies.
  • Geological and geotechnical characterization, including lithologic modeling, boring log interpretation, and GIS supported subsurface evaluations.
  • Project management and technical leadership for mining, infrastructure, and environmental projects.
  • State and Federal regulations pertaining to water management.
  • Project management including developing detailed budgets, determining project scope, establishing schedules, processing appropriate paperwork, and interacting with clients.
  • Marketing and preparing proposals and assist in preparing and providing presentations.
  • Minimum of a M.S. in Hydrogeology is required, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Professional registration (PG or PE) or the ability to obtain a registration..
  • Ability to develop a strong network in the local and international marketplace.
  • Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, written and oral communication and attention to detail skills.
