About The Position

The Task Force for Global Health (TFGH) seeks a Senior Associate Director, Programs with a strong background in laboratory science and global public health to join the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) program. CHAMPS works to collect high-quality data to identify causes of child mortality in partner countries globally. This senior position provides day-to-day technical expertise and coordination for the CHAMPS laboratory workstream, reporting to the Deputy Director for Science, Site Strategy, and Implementation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a field related to the program.
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience related to the program.
  • Previous supervisory and program/project management experience, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Public Health, or related discipline.
  • Molecular and Microbiological Technical Expertise.
  • 5+ years working in global public health.
  • Experience with laboratory Quality Management, Compliance, Training, Mentorship, and Capacity Building.
  • Highly analytical with experience in laboratory coordination and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the CHAMPS network laboratory workstream, including oversight of testing platforms, quality assurance (QA), supply chain management, and personnel training.
  • Develop and manage the transition plan for TAC (Tissue Acquisition) production and technical oversight from CDC-based operations to the CHAMPS Program Office and qualified in-country labs.
  • Provide tailored, in-person, and remote technical assistance to site staff in molecular diagnostics, biosafety, and diagnostic reagent production.
  • Oversee the production and quality control of diagnostic reagents for the network.
  • Lead the design and delivery of laboratory capacity-building initiatives and co-lead the laboratory technical working group.
  • Develop a long-term strategic plan to build regional TAC production capacity and expertise in-country.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Program Office and CHAMPS site laboratories.
