About The Position

L3Harris Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. The company offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, tactical and advanced hypersonic propulsion. This Engineering Services Design position will focus on component and system design of composite cases for Solid Propulsion Systems. Expected to be an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of design concepts and CAD. A basic understanding of modeling practice and drawing layout. Capable of supporting multiple design activities. Under moderate supervision, investigates and supports recommendations for design factors such as ease of manufacture, inspect-ability, availability of materials and equipment, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements and cost requirements. Performs mathematical calculations and tolerance analysis per engineering specifications. Supports alternative design solutions to problems and obstacles. May support checking of engineering product definition for compliance and conformity to established company standards, specifications, and design directives.

Requirements

• Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Mechanical Design experience.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior Mechanical Design experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior Mechanical Design experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with CAD software tools (CREO), and PLM Systems (Windchill) is desired.
• Knowledge of solid propulsion systems design and manufacturing methods is a plus.
• Engineering drawing and GD&T application experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Performs professional assignments requiring a strong knowledge of application of concepts, practices, and techniques.
• Explains and interprets operational processes, practices and procedures of the job area to others within the organization or larger integrated team.
• Problem solve by drawing from prior experiences, standard procedures and analysis of the issues.
• Self-motivated working under general supervision.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements to ensure compliance of applicable requirements.
• Prepares and maintains Creo 10.0 CAD drawings and models of moderate complexity within Windchill PLM System.
• Capable of managing simple to moderate CAD assemblies and engineering BOM.
• Experience with ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
